April Employees of the Month

CERTIFICATED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

In Peter Brickey’s (Cascade Middle School) first year as a teacher with the district, he has shown what an asset he is to his school and the district.  He has started a new program for behavior and although some days can be very difficult, he never ceases to amaze his coworkers with his patience and ability to stay positive with the kids.  The kids in his room really look up to him and respect him immensely.

CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

A long-time district employee, Columbia Heights paraeducator, Shirley Bunn is part of a special education team of gold at her building.  She goes above and beyond to help the students with special needs, not only to provide support behaviorally but academically as well.  There is not a time that you won’t see her all over the building and on the run to help anyone that needs it.

February Employees of the Month

Cascade Middle School Assistant Principal, Kristopher Chrisopulos is new to the district but has fast become a valued employee.  Over the course of the school year it has become very clear that he epitomizes the can-do spirit that is so vital to success with middle school students.  He has gone out of his way to develop a positive rapport with students and staff.  He looks for way to show people that he cares about and respects them, while still maintaining the highest standards of decorum and academic success.  His deft ability to create a positive atmosphere is motivational to both students and staff and makes school a great place to learn and work.

Kessler Elementary Secretary, Christine Kelly joined the district in 2005 as a paraeducator before becoming a secretary.  In her role as head secretary she is known for her calmness and ability to stay level-headed.  She can be on the phone, covering the nurse’s office, and talking to a parent at the desk all at the same time, and doing it with a smile on her face.  She knows the families and kids at her school and doesn’t get rattled when she is faced with a difficult situation.  She is an asset to her building and the district.

May Employees of the Month

May Certificated Employee of the Month Debra Holmes joined Cascade as a counselor late Summer 2017, and quickly became an invaluable member or the team, trusted by staff and students alike.

Debra is often one of the first staff members to the school in the morning and often stays late to ensure that things are handled. She spends the majority of her day working with and supporting students at Cascade who trust her as they seek her out for support and guidance.

She is willing to jump in and help support where she is needed and is a fixture in the halls at passing and in the lunch room–speaking with students, building relationships and encouraging students to act appropriately.

May Classified Employee of the Month Eric Becker transitioned from a substitute custodian to a permanent employee at Broadway approximately a year ago.

His personality has been a great match for Broadway staff and preschool children—including his good sense of humor. Eric goes beyond expectations in the quality and quantity of work in an expedient manner. He exhibits a “can do” and “will do” attitude at all times.
